Updates

2:12 AM

It's late. I have lectures tomorrow. But since my blog hasn't exactly been bustling with activity of late, perhaps sacrificing a few hour of sleep to splash some colour here can't take that much of effort... Honestly, I have LOADS to blog about.. Lots of pent up thoughts, interesting facts, culture shock endeavours and strange encounters, seemingly, waiting to come pouring out. Yet, I feel that I need to be in a completely uninterupted stance for it all to come tumbling out with momentum... Right now, my room's in a mess from all the last minute cramming I've been doing for mid semester tests, my bed is dusty not from not being slept on but the edges are getting a little too cosy for the dust mites..

My study table.... eek! Don't even go there. And I'm seriously beginning to think that the carpet in my room is not safe to walk on barefooted thanks to gravel and unearthly sediments that have engraved itself within the nooks and crannies of the linings.... Wth...... Little wonder why I fell sick then eh? I'm practically living in a breeding ground for germs!!! I thought there weren't any ants in NZ. Until I saw them crawling all over my unwashed dishes a few days back. I have since resolved to do my dishes at a specific time every night.

Picture time!!!

First.... Lemme present you with a fact........ written on the sand......

MMMMmmmmm! Yummy!! Apa itu??? It's yoghurt based ice cream at Yogur Berry on Princess Street. With an assortment of toppings... There were bananas, strawberries, melon, black berries, kiwi, white chocolate balls, chocolate balls, nuts, oreo cookie sprinkles, passion fruit and strawberry dressing. OMG! 9 scoops of heaven..........

When you put heaven in front of 4 hungry girls (ok...... we weren't exactly starving, it was just after dinner), what happens???? (fm left, me, Marilee, Su Lyn and Wen Chien... all 2nd year students apart from me)
.....here's what happens.....

During the mid semester break, we had a steamboat thingy majiggy. Or "Sabu Sabu" as declared by Joey. Went to an Asian store to purchase all the items and then it was hot pot time in our common room. Eating together and laughing about nothing in particular is the best form of happiness...

So here's our sabu sabu, and the masterminds behind it... Seated from left is Brian, Andrew, Darrell, Bobbie, Meeeeeee, Trish. And standing from left is Joey, Melitta, Joanna and Kalpa.
Melitta and me.... She's from Fiji and my gym partner. We go jogging at the domain together, gymming together and dine together all the time!!!

Trish and Darrell. Darrell's trespassing from Grafton Residence... LOL.. Apparently, he know Esther Liew and even lived at her place once. Small world I say! Both are JPA scholars, Darrell's in engineering and Trish's doin commerce.

Darrell and Bobbie. Bobbie's from Wellington and he's trespassing from Grafton as well. It's alright that they trespass though, since we're frequent visitors at Grafton.... where we sip on red wine and let our brains turn to mush. Bobbie's doing biomed and went to some prestigious united nations school in Hong Kong. Cool no?
Joey and Joanna. Joanna appears to be lookin elsewhere in all the pix coz she is apparently camera shy... Both are hoping to enter the medical world , ie, doing biomed.... I, however, am convinced that Joey is a master brewer on the side. He makes awesome herbal soups. Oh, and so does Joanna.... Both of them are HUGE on soups/broths. Joanna made me drink some tea with diced ginger and garlic in it when I was sick. I have no idea how that went down my troath but I liked burping after that... (i prob shouldn't have said tht). My point is, they're both quacks in disguise....
Macho guys..... Fm left : Kalpa, Brian and Andrew. Kalpa's fourth year med, an excellent cook and is like a tiny ball of energy that keeps bouncing off the walls. Brian's doing tv and media studies I think and shares an interest with Joanna in Joy Division. (if ur wonderin what the crap is that, I feel you....) and Andrew cooks for the entire residence hall. Seriously!!! He makes the best vege samosas ever.. amongst other things... S*** la.Everyone cooks so well! I feel so inadequate!!!
Me and Melitta yet again. O yea, Mel's doing health science and hoping to get into medicine as well.

Future doctor- Joey.... He's really funny la k... The way he speaks and his gestures....

Ok, digging in time...... I ate til bursting point coz everything was so yummy. Esp the square tofu thing!!

I bet there's no sabu sabu in Fiji eh Mel???

Me and Trish.... Joey was just snapping away.........

And he even got this one........

After dinner, Trish decided to start tutoring...... I'm not sure what that guy's name is....

And Darrell did a fair share of posing...

While Mel and Kalpa tried taking Joanna's picture. And caught Joey and me engaging in some sorta conversation.

It's 2 am. If I don't sleep now, I will collapse. And everyone I know think I'm insane to be updating my blog at this unearthly hour.

You have to love me for this!

Crappy Connection Makes an Incomplete Day 3

2:10 AM

I think my internet connection is going from bad to worse!! I am so gonna upgrade... I tried uploading these pictures all throughout my sem break which was the whole of last week in case you're wondering, and all the while the annoying "refresh page" window kept popping up. I swear! I was this *pinch of salt action* close to pulling out all my hair. What's frustrating is, I have more pictures to put up on my little social gatherings over the holidays (more like study break) but I can't bear to go through all the hassle again. Sigh.

Anyhoo, enjoy the pix. Can't blog much today coz I have an economics test tomorrow and loads of cramming to do. But as soon as my mini tests are over, I will sit myself down and attempt to blog properly...

Third day, we went on a cruise along the Bay of Islands..... Here's us standing infront of the boat.

Bye bye dock!!! Departing land for an awesome boat ride...

It was freezing on the boat after a while, thanks to all the wind. Luckily the sun was out! We took satisfaction in letting our asses face the sun. Having the sun roast ur ass is the most orgasmic feeling ever when you feel like you're on the brink of becoming an ice block...

Saw this hot air balloon in the blue sky an hour or so into the journey...

One of the many scenic docks that we were brought to see.......

Dolphin watching was also on the agenda. You should've seen me! I was like an eager child jumping all over the place just to get a glimpse of them......

But it was worth coz I had never seen a real dolphin jumping in synchronisation before. So pretty! They travel in pairs and when they jump..... SO NICE!!! I wish I had a jumping shot, but too fast to capture.

More shots of us........the sunny gals
Remember the hole in the rock from the second day??? We got to travel to it on the third day... Here're some shot of the hole upclose. We got to go through the hole, and that was exactly what is was........ a hole.

Into the hole........ I took a video of us going into it, just so I can say, "hey, I've been into 'the hole'"

Bye bye hole!!!! It was nice going through you!!

Another shot of us........ I was freezing at this point...

Was SO hungry after the two hour boat trip so decided to tapau fish burgers from the shop with the blue sign.......

We brought our food to the beach and decided to pig out there........

This is where we stayed on the 2nd day.... It's a pretty good backpackers..... Both of them were.
After lunch we decided to go to the beach for a bit....
Spotted these two cutie pies there..... Awwwww!

Wrote some crap on the sand just to make our presence there felt... There were loads of pictures on writing in the sand and posing on the beach but I was too impatient to deal with the loading so yea...........

And then we hit the road again, back to reality....... :(((((

I spent most of my time in the car in this state........

Continuation

12:58 PM

Day Two - The continuation.........

Day two started off with us getting on this huge tour bus (we signed up for the NZD 45 Bay of Island tour coz apparently, our vehicle would get stuck in the sand dunes if we were to go alone) and our first stop was this awesome lake.....

We ventured a bit further and found this weird unwieldy means of transport somewhere and decided to get on it n take a picture... The part we were standing on was filled with lalang or something similar to it...... LOL
The next stop was an ice cream parlour with a dodgy washroom to boot.... The ice cream looked seriously yummy but I had to pass coz didn't wanna go on a bathroom rampage during the trip.... Rini had paddlepop flavoured ice cream n Lin had raspberry. Trish and I had a lick of both. The tour guide later told us that the stop was a mere tactic to get us to fill up on ice cream so that we wouldn't b expecting a gigantic lunch which was part of the tour.....

This was where we stopped to have lunch.... The contrast of the blue, green and white sand was awesome.... We sat under a tree somewhere n sure enough the lunch was pretty light. Filled up on date scones and some junk food.....

The beach was right in front of us... I was so tempted to go dip my feet into the water but Rini made me wear sneakers and jeans in preparation for the sand dunes... I ended up regretting the entire time!! Coz there were so many beaches and I had to worry about sticking my wet feet back into my socks everytime we stopped by one.....

Walked on the sand with our sneakers anyway and posed for the camera....
Many toilet stops later, we stopped at Cape Reinga.... Sweet! You know where the lighthouse stands, that's like the tip of the north part of NZ. So i can proudly say that I've been to the very north of the north island.... The view, again, was spectacular... Could've stayed there for ages just reflecting...

Am doing a Shereen Asha here. Forgot to rotate this picture n too lazy to do it now, so please do a mental rotation.... Me standing really close to the lighthouse.

Oh look! It's me again! Further away from the lighthouse....

All of us, with the very highly acclaimed sea behind us....

This sea is extremely unique.... It's where the hot and cold currents of the sea clash.. And apparently, u can actually feel it if you're on a boat down there, that is....

Paradise..........

And then I forced them to hike up this very steep mountain although the didn't want to coz I wanted to see the view so bad.........

The next stop was my most favorite one for the day.... The sand dunes!!! Wheeeee.......

The bus was actually moving on the sand, and I kept wondering when the tyre was gonna get stuck or when we would be swallowed up by quick sand. Neither happened... Shucks. Would've been interesting to watch...

Vehicles on sand.........
And then we stopped to go sand toboganing... What goes up.........
....Must come down......

I kept yelling, "I'm gonna hit you Lin Huiiiiiiii!" But it was so much fun!! Climbing up was terrifying....... I felt like i was gonna fall backwards and it was SO tiring!!!

Lin Hui and I had it better than Trish and Rini though..... Here's Trish falling off her sledge....

And Rini who got stuck and had probs comin down

Me and Lin

Wanted to go again but ran outta time....... But there was time to take one last snap shot...

And then off we were to 90 mile beach

The very famous 90 mile beach.... which is actually only 60 miles..... great history behind it, too lazy to tell..... But seriously, this is the longest beach I have ever been to. I slept three times on the bus and all three times I woke up, we were still on the beach....... N it was just pure beach!! Nothing contaminating or blocking it..... Sand and sea. Period.

The famous hole in a rock. WHich is basically, a hole in a rock..... and famous coz of the darn hole.... More on this on day three...
So obviously we had to stop on this beach... There;s our bus and our tour kakis
And there's us, trying to pull off a baywatch scene....... No prizes for guessing which butt is mine...

Day two ended with a VERY happy me devouring a VERY delicious and SATISFYING fish and chips meal....... You know when ur really really hungry and craving for something and get to satisfy that craving? Heaven. I experienced heaven a couple of times that day. This country's so beautiful that you just wanna hug it and not let go!!!

More coming up. Must run and study for a test now... My very first one and I am freaked out to the max... This post is literally a breather from Sparta and Lycurgus and whatever the dual kingship had to offer in stability.

You know you love me

xoxo
