MiniFeeds

3:06 AM

It's so odd how I have to try and keep things bottled up despite being awfully reflective of late. Fact is, there's just too much that I need to do. I have way to much reading to catch up on to be writing here, let alone writing at all. All I'm studying this semester has sparked my interest so much. So much so, I feel like a vault has opened up before me. Views that I have failed to capture all along have come crashing down on me. Beliefs that remained placid in my thoughts all along are being questioned. The mind rattles with a new found curiosity. My world has been slightly shaken and I am loving it.

But ever so often......

I long for the familiarity of home. Oh how I would kill for roti canai and dahl accompanied by an icy glass of milo! LeezaAA!

And ever so often, I am reminded of how truly lucky I am to be here and blessed with awesome company =D

Andrew's signature puddings are the bessst! n he always remembers to give me a whole paper cup full....

And Kailas's chocolate chip cookies are to die for!! She makes a whole plateful almost every weekend to be shared amongst us, 9th floor mates.

Been studying my ass off this past week. And surprise surprise! I'm sick. Blessed with the sexiest voice of all time. I have two psych tests and a sociology test on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively AND i have an Economics assignment due on Thursday.... And then it's party time again... LOL. well, erh, not really....

Excuse me while I traipse along to take sips from the fountain of knowledge.
ps : special thanks to mumzo for calling me all week just to make sure I was alive AND for trying to get me to a doctor (or more precisely, bring a doctor to my doorstep) despite not being here physically. Love u LOADS!

Nightingale

11:11 PM

Two very talked about events. Expansion of social circle. Perhaps more acknowledgement of alcohol tolerance. And not forgetting, a whole lot of laughter and fun. My week was something else this time around. Work load has increased and so has the marginal level of my confusion and inability to keep up. But I'm catching up as best as I can.

These two events however, (ie: see ticket in hand and writing on wrist. LOL) managed to add some vigour to a week of study. My only problem with frenzy nights out is too much hype and expectations are bestowed upon it to the point that the disappointment that ensues can hardly be avoided. Thankfully, these hip and happening events lived up to its names'.

The first was Red Room Revue held in the city. It was a burlesque and pole dancing performance that Jie Huei's school of pole dancing was having so they could attract more people to join the classes. I had the time of my life to be honest. Wasn't too happy with the cheap seats we were 'blessed' with but the night was one of serious entertainment. Definitely a first.

Anisha (SandhuSan) and Boon.

Me and my bourbon and cola with Mel and her ?!??!

this lady was the emcee. I forced her to take a picture with us and the first thing she said was "lemme flash my boobs a little" with the most pleasant smile ever. LOL.
Mel, Dallas and Jie Huei. Small world. Dallas and Mel realized that they were both Ritumen and went to schools that were situated side by side in Suva, Fiji. I would've never guessed that he was from Fiji. He looks so Malay! And he came up with a stage name for himself : Frank the Spank.
Me, Huei and Nish. The flash ruined the classiness of the bar.

And the lot of us again.... I think I'm slowly Malaysianizing Melitta.

Yes. The sucky view from our sucky seats. And this was taken standing up. Exactly what you get for Malaysian timing. We missed the opening. The girls performed to almost all the songs featured in Chicago and they teased and half stripped and flirted around with the guys sitting up front.
Highlight of the night was still the pole dancing. And speaking of highlights, the pole actually FELL when one of the dancers were gyrating on it in full speed. It was SO scary. Especially for the people up front. At first I thought it was some sorta gimmick but then the show was put on hold and they had to call an ambulance so that the man sitting up front who was injured could get treatment. Scary stuff. Funny but, I was in shock.....
I couldn't get a nice shot of them doing the pole stuff coz they were always moving but I tried.

And this was the best I could do.

During intermission, more picture taking moments.

And the show continues. Spotlights.

Okeh. Don't look too good here but everyone else looks nice. And that's Aroha, Jie Huei's teacher who fell with the pole!

Friday night was MOS night. I wasn't supposed to drink but it all started with this......... and then there was no stopping any one of us

Nish's awesome place was the perfect venue for drunken games.

And look at those pretty shot glasses! How can one refuse to take a shot in those glasses?

this was taken when everyone was nice and sober. The bottle of Smirnoff in the middle kicked sobriety in the ass.

Here's Abby, taking a shot. She's uber cute and doing four different majors!

Nish, perfect hostess.

Me taking a shot of wine. When i felt I didn't have it in me to do any smirnoff shots any longer, I begged for them to lemme continue in the game with wine instead. We were playing a drinking game. Maui's dies are the bomb. Next to me is gorgeous Nabita

You know what's weird? Before getting to Nish's place, the only other person I knew amongst this lot was her. Neither of us knew the other. She was like the common factor. But we all got along almost immediatly! It was kinda scary. In a good way. Coz at the end of the day, everyone watched out for each other in the club. Frm left, Nabita, Terry, Nish, Maui and Abby.

This was after we were drunk. ANd after Abby played with pepper spray and made everyone choke. =0

erm... yea

uh huh...

Clearly no one knows what 'lala' poses look like....

Just before leaving for the club to be MOS-ified.

The guys had to have one last shot together.

Halfway through, Nish got real sick so we had to send her home but we came back and continued dancing til I literally felt like dropping. I don't think I've ever been that drunk before. Coz I've never felt like puking and I really wanted to that night. But I held it in and danced it out. Nabita was sweet. She carried a doggie bag for me just in case and we stayed close to each other all night.

turns out, MOS music is not really my kinda thing altho when there's good company around, nothing else really matters.

the crowd. the club was pretty wide and spacious. it's where UMSA will be havin it's foam party this year. I might skip out on that. Clubbing just takes too much outta me. =P

Need to study now so til next time! =D

Luminous Appreciation

10:46 AM

I feel like God has hit me with a tranquilizer dart this year. Everything is so serene. There's something to be thankful for everyday. Thoughts transpire, worries expire. And speaking of thoughts, I have thought and thought and have hereby decided on my second major for my Arts degree - Sociology. It drives me crazy with interest, helps me lose myself in the many facets of society and nicely compliments my love for psychology. Oh the wonder of exploring! Yet to have decided on my 2nd major for my Science degree but I think Psych should suffice. =D So econs, psych and socio (the lecturers and tutors have been the awesomest thus far), here I come!

There's nothing more delightful than the anticipation of a holiday............

there's nothing more promising than the dawn of a new day......

There's nothing more rewarding than finding comfort in the dusk of a productive day..........
happiness transcends.
another busy end of the week is heading my direction. will take loads of pictures and put em up here.

Pasifika Updates

11:54 AM

Hectic week. Can't blog much about every single thing that happened, although I would love to if time permitted. This is probably the best I can do. I NEED to gather some good ground on the studies side. And today's the only day that I can achieve as much as I want to. Been tired and exhausted ALOT lately. Staying up during lectures are proving to be increasingly difficult. Tutorials are a retreat of a different kind, still, I find it hard to fully participate due to either not knowing enough or out of fear. Which I am trying to overcome. Fingers crossed, by this year. Being born into a culture of submissive ness and repressed outspoken ness is not at all helpful. sigh. Anyways, I shall leave the ranting for later and the images for now =D.

if you don't already know, i managed to get the job at Configure Express as a receptionist. I work from 6 am - 9 am every mondays and tuesdays and earn quite well for the 6 hours that I put in every week. Plus, now I get employee perks! I get to use the gym for absolutely no cost as much as I want until I decide to quit. =D So not only do I earn money but I also SAVE money!!! Joyousness! My colleagues are pretty helpful although I feel like a noob most of the time coz I can't answer heaps of questions directed my way by the gym users. I'm learning. Slowly.... The only downside to the job is how despicably early I have to wake up each morning and walk down the completely desserted streets to the gym. It's scary. Every now and then I do a pivotal 360 degree turn just to make sure I am not being followed by a hobo or a serial rapist or killer or a bulldog..... And walking in the frigid cold in nothing but my gym gear is not as torturous now as it will get soon enough. Above is my uniform.

Amidst all the business, I slept over at Charlotte's house on Friday. We watched NZ's next top model together and then American Idol and we perpetually slammed contestants with over the top criticisms that even Simon Cowell wouldn't have been able to dish out. LOL.

Charlo and me

and again........ the usual repertoire

her room, oh so spick and span..... and comfyyyyy............ boy, do i miss sleeping in a proper house..

And for the very first time, I managed to get my tastebuds around a satisfying burger fuel burger. I went for the lightweigh grilled chicken burger with aioli. Heaven!!! And it wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be... Charlo and Kate had the heavy weight burgers with fries and the whole deal. I was just keeping my purse strings tight and I wouldn't have been able to finish the entire thing aneeewayyyy.... But YuMMY!

Charlo and Kate had to cut their burgers into halves in order to consume the entire thing....

Charlotte was such a darling. She picked me up and sent me back and drove me here and there and even made my bed for me before and after I woke up. Plus she had to wake up early just to send me to Britomart the next day so I could catch the bus with the other UMSA members to Western Springs park for the Pasifika Festival. Hats off Charlo!

Here's me and Lala.. I only found out that she stays at Huia when I met her at Britomart...

Upon arriving at Western Springs, I split from the UMSA group to meet up with Melitta and we journeyed the festival together.... The festival included little performances and booths selling food and other stuff by the Pacific Islanders... (ie: Fijians, Cook Islanders, Samoans, Tongans and the whole lot)

Melitta and I were kinda hungry so we shared this waffle with ice cream and chocolate sauce and raspberries. OMG. Heavenlyyyyyyyyy! AND huge.

But sharing is caring. And so just that we did when it came to any food at all.....

Us and Miss Pacific Island.... =D She's pretty!

Mel saw her friend Kati there as well. Here's us and Kati.

One of the Fijian stalls had this interesting err, i'm not sure what it's called. But I like the colours.

ANd they had all sorts of games. This one involved hitting a shuttlecock into the holes..... LOL

Me and one of the Fijian guards. I was SO shy to ask him if I could take a photo with him but Mel forced me to.....

This was Mel's Bakvalolo. Some Fijian dessert that the girl was clearly in love with. It's made out of rice flour, bananas, brown sugar and caramel I think. It tasted awfully familiar. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's available in Malaysia as well. Just that it's called something else. I denied myself too much. Diet... yes.

Gees. In abundance.

Naomi joined us midway.... My UMSA president... =)

Melitta and me. I like her dresssssss! And Leez, aren't u proud? hehe. I bring a piece of you everywhere I go

One of the cook Island dancers. OMG. their hips!!! SO gyrateable! I wanna learn how to dance like that

We were all so mesmerized by the dance..

ANd then it was time to head back coz it started raining donkeys....

Made a short pitstop at Warehouse before our normal foodtown and lim chour routines and I got the bag. A treat to myself... for.....eerrrrrr

Melitta got a few things as welll..... I SO love this picture of her. LOL.
Yet another busy week looms. I'm looking forward to the mid sem break already but not before a couple of dreadful tests and assignments...
