Foamy Bits and Textured Pits

2:02 PM

Wooooh! busy end of the week. Welcomed breather, especially after spending heaps of time burrying myself deeper and deeper in my books.... The break's finally dawned on us, Auckland uni students, and I don't know anyone who hasn't got something planned for it. Whether it's driving down to tour the eastern beaches (oh, how i wish!!) or catching up on studies or south island trips or attending weddings amidst family, everyone has found something or rather to keep themselves occupied. I'm one of those people who has chosen to stay back at Auckland and catch up with both my economics papers. I've not been religiously attending classes and I've got two assignments and two tests on the cards for me as soon as uni reopens. Precious indeed, all this added hours of "leisure". Am pretty sure I'll get up to something mid week though. I've got some shopping to do at Dressmart (for boots and some winter necessities), then there's that 2nd UMSA newsletter that I've to come up with (....which I honestly feel crutched to do without the help of Leeza Foo) and then there's work as usual and the UMSA food night which sees me on the decorations committee and more parties, perhaps? With hopefully a couple of day trips squeezed in. Perfection. Confessions of a schedule-holic - someone who constantly needs to have stuff planned so that she feels like a significant speck in this gigantic world.

I was actually pretty disappointed that I didn't have a trip planned this time around. Primarily coz everyone is pretty busy. Had I had it my way, I would've jumped at the chance to travel to Coromandel or Piha or somewhere.... Sigh. But I supposed it's for the better anyway. Especially since I have big plans for the winter break. And those plans had better materialize. For the sake of keeping my sanity in check. Anyways, this is a heavily pictured post. So I'll not waste any more time and get to it... I've got much time to elaborate on other intricate details with those 2 weeks. Or at least I hope.

Foam Party! This was jointly organized by UMSA and the other Asia clubs at Auckland uni, with the Asia reps (Anisha and Jie Huei) contributing more effort than any of the other members (coz it was in their role criteria, not coz the rest of us were sloths who took comfort other people bearing our burden). Any how, the night was a huge success. Or at least I thought so, with last year's foam party at Shadows in comparison. I was dangerously close to forgoing this event at the last minute... Thanks to much persuasion from Joselyn, I ended up going. Me and late night ventures have an ongoing conflict with each other. First, I get all excited about being invited. Then I tell myself that there's loads of time to make a decision. And then, just a day before the event, there's this ferocious war within my subconscious worlds, insidiously whisking pros with cons leading up to more turmoil. And then 12 hours before the event, I come up with a tonne of excuses to bail, mostly superficial ones. And then 3 hours before, I let myself be persuaded by someone and drag my feet, both in agony and anticipation. The psychology of me and events.

Joss and I were a lil early so we headed over to the Lee brothers place and watched Blades of Glory before leaving for Studio on K Road. Even more packed this time around compared to the MOS gig. Can't really see the foam yet though.

Fm left, Jie Huei, Joss and Boon. My dance kakis'

Sorry. The sequence of the pictures are messed up yet again. =( and I couldn't take many on the dance floor coz my cybershot isn't waterproof. This was taken after we were sprayed with heaps of foam. Back in the VIP room.

Me and Boon. Also in the VIP room. Also after extended foam play.

From the VIP room, we decided to sneak up on stage to take a picture with the hot DJ. DJ Karn Hall. He's supposed to be pretty famous in NZ. But since I'm clubbing rookie, I wouldn't know.

This was taken at Denny's (possibly the ONLY non fast food 24 hour eatery) where we went to have early breakfast after dancing into the wee hours of the night. I only had two shots and a rum and coke concoction this time so didn't get drunk. =D Me flanked by the two Asia reps.

Me and Nish. She adores my camera. LOL. Funny girl. Sure seems like I'm spending too much time with her these days. But I likey!

And since there were no full length pictures of me throughout the night (bummer!!), I thought I'd take one in the confines of my room. My outfit for the night. Ok. You can stop laughing now. And in case you were wondering, yes, I did freeze in that. I thought I was going to die at least a couple of times. And behind me is my bulletin. See the pictures? I keep all of you close to my heart!

Me, Joss and Huei with our drinks. I didn't have to buy ne drinks that night ;)

Me, Rachel and half of Rach's bf, Tim...

you can see bits and pieces of the foam here. I was just too worried about my camera.

Hee. Blurred foamy pictures.

FOAM. it came out in huge chunks. Awesomeness. Dancing in the foam is like gliding and gyrating at the same time. I like! But my feet and calves ached at the end of the night.

UMSA had a night of board games for all members after a committee bonding session. And then Nish and I headed out for some fun on the road. I actually enjoyed the committee bonding session, not merely coz of the free pizza I got to eat, but also coz it felt good to be able to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere with the other members. Almost all of whom I've established pretty great relations with. =D Also celebrated Nish's early birthday and Azhan's belated one together.
I wasn't aware that HEAT had burgers until I looked at this picture.

Part of my uni from ISpace, where we had our board games night thinga majig.
Me and Joselyn

And again.

Me, Atie and Joss propped against lush blue sofas.

the other committee members had to eat greasy fried chicken while I grazed on my vege pizza slices. Ah. The perks of shirking chicken.

ANd then we proceeded to play some games as part of our bonding session. Pictured here fm left is social officer, Atie, AUT rep Joss, Asia rep Jie Huei and Vice Pres June.

THe boys teamed up in their usual orientation again. Despite living together, they still felt they had some bonding to do. -_____- Pictured from left is Cultural Officer Andrew, Subcom Tuan, Communications Officer Vim and Social Officer Allan.

At first, only Jun Yan (Secretary) and me were in the same team.....

But later we were joined by Azhan (photographer). And quite a team we were!

Just us girls, waiting to usher the members into ISpace.

This one had (almost) everybody in it. After surprising Nish and Azhan with their birthday cake.
Preparing ourselves for more board game sessions

The happy twosome with their cake.

We played some conquer the earth game which I couldn't get, even after multiple explanations!

And then Nish and I abandonned the posse to join Terry, Abby and Jonathan in the adventures/misadventures of the hang out crew. After much persuasion from Nish and her craving for ice cream, we ended up going to Movenpick in Mission Bay.

Am not too sure what she ordered but it sure did look yummy-fying.

And then, we became rather touristy and asked a few guys standing around to snap a picture of us.

Went for a walk on the beach after. It was freezing!!! It was so funny how we were all standing around and doing some fidgeting gestures in order to keep warm. Jonathan seen here, decided to do a couple of laps around the beach.

Heeeeeeeeeee

Me, Nish and Jonathan.

Nish took these panoramic shots. And they came out really great. This is exactly how Mission Bay looks at night.

Nice right?

Welcome to the good life. Terry somehow always gets cropped outta pictures.

And then, as if we hadn't already done enough, we went for shisha. I didn't smoke much. Just a couple of wifts but Nish was so into it that she ordered two!!! And the convenience store guy had to wait til we finished it before he could close up. Poor chap! Jonathan and I pretty much used the entire time to warm up our hands using the coal as heat source. Night ended with us planning another party at Grace's place. Hopefully a costume party coz the novelty of it is too good to pass up.
Okayyy, sleepy time. Haven't slept since I got back from the foam party and daylight savings begins today. SO i officially have absolutely no idea with regards to what time it is here in Auckland at the moment. Neither have I made an effort to find out. Sleep calls.
