2008 is here!!!

2:30 AM

Whilst everyone chose to theme their final blog entries of the year with apocalyptic finishes, I am choosing to take the road less travelled. So instead of sadly waving goodbye to 2007, I am goin to enthusiastically usher in 2008. Here's to another fabulous year of resolutions met, unbreakable friendships and exciting endeavours. - from the files of You Know You Love Me

The start to this awesome year was fantastic! From awesome friends, to terrific celebrations, to long hours on the road to fiery fireworks...it was the BOMB. I find so many experiences becoming increasingly harder to describe these days. Still unsure if my fast decay of brain cells is to blame or if my experiences are getting enriching by the second. I am not exaggerating. I feel like I've been living on a natural high for the longest time. Maybe I'm happiest when not studying and wasting my hours partying and trying my hand at random stuff like there's no tomorrow??

Whatever it is, I had a great time yesterday. I will describe it in succinct sentences, but once again, the pictures will have to speak for themselves... Ben was the chauffeur for the day. Left from my place at 6 pm, reached Hua's place to pick Adeloke and Leez by 8 pm thanks to massive jams everywhere and detours gone wrong. Picked Cass up by approx 8 thirty?? Ended up at Modestos for a rather meekly worth it dinner of pizzas, linguini and red wine for a hefty price. At least some of us were satisfied with the eye candy loitering around nearby while others pondered murdering the same source which brought that satisfaction in the first place, ahem ahem. Someone ended up drunk while another found himself that much richer.

Girls ready to paint the town red!

Decided to make our way to The Curve after dinner. Arrived at Curve and got saperated into three different crowds. Alex- the solo avenger. The girls rule, boys drool clan comprising of Leez, Adeloke, Ben and me and finally, Cassie and gang - the ones who took the looooong way there. With phone signals going haywire and crowds reaching claustrophobic heights, there was little that we could do to find each other. My cell went bonkers halfway through, had to shut it off but still some new year messages made it's way through...

Ben was his mischievious self, funding the investment in foam spray to make the end one to remember. Ended getting sprayed not only by him but about 15 random strangers in the middle of nowhere while the three of us girls tried to cling on to each other for dear life. Savage!!! These people simply scan their targets and attack without mercy, strangers or not!@!

Walked around to search for a place with more spectacular views. Found Solo Avenger Alex, while walking and somehow found Cassie and gang just before we went completely crazy with the foam sprays. Sudden blur images of foam! People staring! Attack Ben! Spraaaaaaaaaaaay! Fireworks interfered with the riot. Breathtaking display in the sky. Sudden sentimental moment replacing vengeance to squirt foam. Ben starts the hugging chain and soon we all find ourselves hugging each other and embracing sweet moments in a group hug. What a fantastic year it has been! For friendships, success and ultimate joy. ANd then, foam war resumes. Foam war ends and the Great walk begins. The Great walk ends and the ultimate survival in a massive jam + amidst Leez's constant chimes of Christmas Carols begin.

The fireworks not only illuminated the sky but brought out the sentimental side in all of us

The spraying started long before the picture taking

Sloshed and dirty, yet ever the mischevious minx.... the sprays were to defend myself from brutal slaughter okayyy!

A round of drinks embellished by a few magic tricks at Hartamas later, we all found ourselves exhausted and headed home. Leez and I headed to Adeloke's for a sleepover but we didn't do much sleeping until later in the morning. Poked around with facebook for a while, uploaded pictures and joked til Leez's batteries ran out. Two hours later, our batteries ran out as well.

I remember waking up somewhere in the middle when Leez's dad called. Tossed and turned thinking about how life was going to be in New Zealand. I am going to be leaving so many good friends behind and so many good memories! I can't even begin to imagine it. The next thing I knew, Leez was wakin us up and it was 2 sth in the afternoon!!

My stomach was rumbling like crazy and it was the start of that time of the month (whaddya know! on the 1st???)... Sheesh. Got dressed and headed to SS2 in Adeloke's car. All three of us had LARGE voracious appetites this afternoon. So we went generous with the orders. Three main dishes and two desserts!!! Unfortunately, 3 main dishes later, we went from scoffing down everything like hungry neanderthals to pushing away our plates in disgust, bickering at how we were so silly to order fried stuff. Thank God, we still had place for dessert and dessert was the BOMB! I don't mind overeating with friends every once in a while. It was a special moment for all three of us. Love you guys mucho!!!

Lee Hua (Adeloke), lookin surprisingly alert despite the all nighter, goes to show that experince is all it takes.

Me, so ZONED out!!! Leez looks pretty ok too...

Sorry, half eaten food, we just attacked!

Finally, the most delicious of all delish! Apple Crumble from Swensens... highly recommended!

And finally (no, for real this time), banana split, shared by the three of us, I predict a purge soon, sry for bein disgusting....

Just got back and I'm already blogging! Eversince facebook, I think I've been fighting an addiction to the internet!! Sheesh! Sometimes I log on up to three times a day!!!

I'm sloshed. Hope your new year was as fantastic as mine! I'm gonna do my review later on to save you the boredom of reading too many reviews at once. Off to a whole day of shopping with Leez tomorrow!! *skip* *skip* *jump* *clap*

You know you love me!

Another Night Out

10:35 PM

Gratitude. Appreciation. Giving thanks No matter what words you use, they all mean the same thing. Happy. We're supposed to be happy. Grateful for friends, family. Happy just to be alive. Whether we like it or not. - Greys Anatomy, season 2

Got invited to watch Chris's band performing at Backyard Pub in Hartamas yesterday, so Ben, Leez and I got ready for another night out on the road. Little did I know that it was indeed a long road trip before the we reached our destination, thanks to Ben and his last minute antics. Yesterday was supposed to be the day when I got to sit in the passenger's seat and enjoy the thrills of watching someone else drive. I wish la k! Hours later, I somehow found myself taking the same road to Puchong to pick up Leeza and then, I miraculously headed to Sri Petaling with all the gusto of an F1 driver in order to pick up Ben and make it to Chris's gig in time. Sigh. Yes. I am finally starting to feel the tension of having my own car. Anyways, Ben repaid me in petrol and toll money plus he paid for ALL the drinks, so I am easily letting this slide. He'll be pickin me up and sending me home for our New Year's celebration as well, so I wasn't sulky for long.

Anyways, Chris's band was pretty good. It was different. Like a quirky twist to the normal spunk. Hmmm, Shoelaces Untied indeed. (...tht was the name of their band) There weren't enough places to sit, so we ended up standing around for a while til Ben's food arrived. Found a place to sit soon after and heard the music from afar. There were many familiar faces there. Mostly the MPSians and a couple of CHSians. Leez and I were like, hmmmm.... and Ben was, as blur as always in his self proclaimed under dressed state.

Shoelace, Untied....... Chris is the one on your far left, playing the guitar

His brother's the vocalist....

Since drinks were on him, Leez and I felt free to order a shot of Baileys followed by Malibu. Costing RM 13.90 per drink, the servings were nothing near generous. I personally think they served us a drop and topped it up with shaved ice followed by giant blocks of ice to make it look somewhat worth it. But who cares! I enjoy drinking diluted Baileys... laugh all you want! Malibu was slightly coconut-y though, not my personal favorite.

Me and Leez, while waiting for our drink

Ben and Leez - Pink in the face already

Leez, posing with the Malibu and my new frameless glasses....

In his druken, tomatoe faced state, Ben decided to become a mixer and produce his own shots. So he mixed his beer with diluted Baileys and coconutty Malibu to produce the Ben-coction. Needless to say, Leez and I were forced to drink this.

Now he's red in the face!!! CHeers!

After Chris's performance, we headed over to Uncle Don's, opposite Hartamas Sq coz all Leez and I were hearing the entire night from BimboBen was syishar, syishar, syishar.... syishar this, syishar that....... bla bla bla. SO down that road we headed. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves....

Syishar arrives, a contrast of red and blue....

Me- in my most agonizing "should-I-stick-to-my-values???" look

Ben goes first......... Done like a pro *applause*

Leez giving it a shot

And finally, muah.... I was a disgrace ok! F.A.I.L.

While heading home, guess who we bumped into?? Esther!!! The only thing that ran throught my mind when a car pulled up ever so close right next to me and started honking was, what a perve!!!, til I saw Esther's head plodding around in the car that is. Hillarious.

By the way, I got my eyebrows threaded, thanks to the constant prodding of my sister and other parties. They weren't too bad to begin with okayyy! And now, I look like the person above with my hair straightened and a trite smile. Yes, apparently, this is the way I should smile... My usual signature wide smile should supposedly be banished to never never land. SIgh. I've decided NOT to straighten my hair (.....it's much tooooooo common these days) but to invest in a hair straightener for special occasions instead. ANd, just so you know, I canNOT, and will NOT hide my wide smile........... unless I'm posing for a camera. Take me as I am or leave me. *flashes tongue*

Can't wait for New Year's eve already. Stay tuned for more updates!

You know you love me!

Resurrection

5:35 AM

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!! .....with a BANG!

Haha. Not so much. So what have I been doing u might ask?? WhErE should I begin?? I've been on mountain peaks (literally!) bearing witness to breath takin views!! Sunsets. Sunrises. Everything!!! With my evil (...angelical) spawns with me, the experience was even more surreal, with the many extreme highs and the tolerable lows. It is indeed the journey that counts more than the destination although the destination was equally spectacular. Sadly, I have no pictures. Spawn brought along his giant camera which takes panaromic pictures and all other cameras were instantly deemed inferior. They will be out on his Picasa web sometime soon and *fingers crossed* I will be able to put up the link here.

So. I've missed this! Trying to come up with figuratively flowery sentences while describing my everyday experiences.

Anyways, after coming back, I indulged in more rotaract projects. Wheee. (ok, nt so much) We (Shaun, Leez, Lee Hua and I) painted Joel's new house to build funds for the club. Although, at the moment, we're still considering splitting the money amongst the four of us due to the overwhelming workload. Still, it was fun, scraping paint off, being sprayed by shaun every now and then, bobbing to Piece of Me by the infamous Britney Spears, complaining and feeling the effects of therapeutic gate painting.

The painters....

The feature wall that we painted amongst all other walls and grills!

Subconsciously, (...couldn't have been consciously, could it?) spent lotsa time with Ben these past few weeks. Went to the movies to watch AVP (coz no one else wanted to! Bah!) at Gardens yesterday, visited his house...err, i mean mansion... last week and watched American Pie in his TV room!!, spent the wee hours of the morning talking about the art of seduction (Ben style..) at McDs, had Vietnamese dinner with him and Cally the Babe. Wow. Who would've thunk eh? It rocks to hang out with Ben!

Yes! Exactly! How do I spend so much time with this.... thing? LOL (jk ben!)

Mom's birthday was on the 23rd and we took her to Victoria Station for an exquisite evening of wining and dining. The tiger prawns there are to die for! They sang for mom with a complimentary Brownie on the house. So everyone was HappEE. Walked around Bangsar Complex later. Family time! Has been quite a while.

Mummy and Us

Christmas was the BOMB too. I had no expectations for it. Like, minimal - stay at home, watch tv til the cows come home - the usual un-adventurous stuff. But it was pretty special in a way. Mom bought Tiramisu cake in the morning!!! Finished it on the day itself. Tiramisu sponge cake is the best. Felt like a ball of lard throughout the day though. I ate like SO much!!! Got the BEST present from mom! And Trixie got me a present TOO! I totally needed both! And my earrings look so organized now. Got invited for a Christmas lunch at USJ, one of mom's long time friend's place. Gorged down the best Briyani ever and there was pot roast, and amazing mutton rendang and sweet pineapples. Plus Amarula for dessert which we shared. While mom chatted with the folks there, Trixie and I camwhored, completely oblivious to everything going on around us. Was the best half and hour or so. Giggling and camwhoring with your sister while sipping on Amarula produces endorphins. Trixie tagged me on facebook with the silly pictures, go SEE and have the laugh of your lives. Our expressions were ridiculous.

Christmas Morning

The Bed Heads

My presents - skin care from mumsy

And... earring display holder from Trixie!!

Went to visit Tennis Coach Moon after that. Finally got a good look at his wife and son. Gosh, his son is a potential knock out, I swear. Kicked Trixie's ass at chess when we came back. Turns out, I still have skills from those primary school days when I used to win tournaments (correction : it was A tournament).

Yesterday was another awesome day. The rotaractors and interactors finally paid the rather overdue visit to Cheshire Home, the home that we raised the money for during the carwash early this month. Finding the place was like going through an impossible maze, but it was a whole lotta fun with Cassie and Ben in the car with me. When we reached, the journey, as exhausitng as it was, was clearly worth it. The senior citizens there craved attention and it all showed in the way their eyes twinkled when they spoke to us about their endeavours. I felt a special connection with Mercy, an albino animated lady with an infectious laughter. She could sing in all languages and entertained me with her stories. I couldn't help thinking about how much my grandmother and her would get along. Leaving them was rather tough but we pulled through, with fond memories etched within us.

Had dinner at Nandos in Subang Parade with the interactors before dispersing.

The next few days marks more shopping sprees for me. Whee! Come quick new year! I await you! Await a review of year 2007 coming soon on my blog.... Til then, toodles.

You know you love me!

ps: I joined facebook for valid reasons!!!! Bleh.

Seasons Greetings.

11:14 PM

Dimi won't be blogging for a little while coz Dimi is off on a major project after a much anticipated week with her fellow pawns. She will report for duty in perhaps a week or so. Still, she welcomes you to leave comments on her blog or perhaps wills you to leave your spam in her chatbox.

Yesterday, she witnessed her sister get all preened up for prom. Made her reminisce about high school prom and college prom and graduation night. Then an interesting sms chain kept her up into the wee hours of the morning. Oh. The excitement of the unknown. She knew she was scaling on partly dangerous octaves, but a little scandalous behaviour was not going to stop her.

All in all. Dimi is still particularly restless this holiday season, but not for long....

xoxo
You know you love me! (winks at fans of GG)

PS : D recommends all to visit Leez's blog to purchase her hand made cards. They look good.

There is No Such Thing as Enough

4:24 AM

"I have an aunt who whenever she poured anything for you she would say 'Say when.' My aunt would say 'say when," and of course, we never did. We don't say when because there's something about the possibility, of more. More tequila, more love. More anything. More is better." - Greys Anatomy

My bubble has just been broken. Big time. I feel my excitement being stifled. I feel like I'm bursting with energy but have nowhere to channel it. I feel like I'm bursting with creativity which can't even be translated into words, but the creativity is being sealed up in a box and nailed to be banished to Alcatraz or something.

I can't do something major for rotaract coz the members aren't unanimously agreeing. I was not able to acquire the support I was seeking. Darn this holiday mood. Call me the grinch who wants to steal christmas. Whatever. I don't care!

I should have accepted that darn job. Darn. (x1000)

I just want to do something. And if I can find someone who is feeling likewise, I am sure we will be able to achieve something big together. I had a premonition not long ago that anything I wanted to achive can be achieved. And yes, I do tend to dream big most of the time. Funny thing is, my dreams almost always become a reality. I am not only a dreamer. I am a do-er. I try to achieve the stuff I dream about. It's something I completely love about myself. So call me a psycho for wanting to do something that seems overlty impossible. Where there's drive and passion, there IS a reward.

I will not rest easy this month. I will not just settle. More is always better.

"There's something to be said about a glass half full, about knowing when to say when. I think it's more of a floating line, a barometer of need. Of desire. It's entirely up to the individual, and it depends what's being poured. Sometimes all we want is a taste. Other times there's no such thing as enough, the glass is bottomless... all we want is more."

Disappointment

8:47 PM

sometimes, when you're so used to the security that close friends bring, it's hard to get use to the insecurity that loneliness brings - Daniele's blog

My biggest fear? Loneliness. And as the day that I need to pack my bags and bid goodbye to the ones I love draw closer, my fear only heightens.

I got my visa today. The DHL (we live to deliver!!) guy brought it to my doorstep. For a minute there I held the package, debating whether or not to rip into it and look at my visa. Looking at it would make the fact that I am leaving soon all so real. I was just afraid to freak out and throw the package out of the balcony. I am capable of these outrageous acts of insanity. Anyway, i did rip into it and yes, the journey seems incredibly daunting now that i'm that much closer to it.

I also got some accommodation news today. Disappointing. I rEaLLy wanted to get into the O'Rorke Hall of Residence. I've heard so much about it. It's immaculate reputation. Silly me for not sending my application in earlier!!! Arrghahahaah~ Apparently, all that's available is the Huia residence. Huia? Sounds like Hoia. Any how, did some research on it and apparently there are 30 rooms on a floor!!!! With 2 freakin bathrooms to be shared amongst 30 people!!! That's like TWO bathrooms!!!! How in the world are 15 people going to wake up and take turns brushing their teeth, bathing and pooping with a time limit to consider????? And I'm sure all students are expected to be in class on time... And what about people with irritable bowel syndrome such as yours truly over here. Oh. The horror!!!

I. Am. NOT. Being. Melodramatic.

Compared to O'Rorke, in which, at the most, 5 students occupy one floor and share a bathroom amongst themselves. It seems even more ridiculous than I make it out to be. Sigh.

I overate today. Emotional eating. And as a result, I will have to over exercise or risk feeling like a giant walrus. Why do these things have to happen when I embark on a diet.

Spawn said it's a matter of balance. Things cannot look up all the while. There are the valleys amongst the peaks.

Numero Dos??

7:31 AM

Sorry for the long blogging hiatus guys. I have been occupied with trying to find a way to avoid staying at home… Not that I stay at home much anyway, but this period of not doing/having to do anything is killing me.

I went for a job interview yesterday at an events company. The interview was a bit disturbing. I will not elaborate. It seemed like all the job applicants were Indians. Seemed a little odd to me coz I’ve never been for an interview in which all the job applicants were of one particular race. Anyway, I got a call later that evening congratulating me on being one of the short listed candidates. Training was supposed to be today. But the interviewer had stressed to me previously that this job required long hours, an impeccable amount of confidence and lotsa traveling. I knew I could pull it off, I just didn’t know if I wanted to this month in particular. So I turned down the offer. I still wanna work. Some position that requires me to work only part time and not 9-5.

Am getting restless. I have really big plans for rotaract right now. I need to hit all my targets before I leave so I’m thinking of planning something hUUUge. Will talk to my members soon.

I met a Chris (interactor NOT rotaractor) yesterday. Was at Bangsar Complex with my mom and he stopped right in front of me and said ‘hi’. I was stunned at first but then I began to recognize him from the interact conference. Was nice of him to come and say hi. Plus, he was one of the cute ones.

Argh, what’s wrong with me. I feel so restless. Like I need to do something. Well, at least you get to read 2 blog entries today. I wrote the other one earlier but didn’t post it. Just updated the rotaract blog also…. Carwash and fellowship updates are available there; click the RCBS link on my blog.

Laters people!
